Bu Rulei is an accomplished oil painter whose paintings consist of many subjects, including portraits, still life, and landscapes. His style is realist, but he likes to use various techniques - harmonious hues, smooth surfaces, and glazing when he paint certain remote area of China, in order to express the ancient culture. In contrast, he tends to use vivid colors, texture, and lines when he creates floral paintings which are for him symbols of the American spirit.
Bu studies art at Shanhai university, China, and he also taught paint and drawing there before coming to America. He resides in Rockville, MD now and becames a full-time artist.
Bu's painting have been entered into numerous shows and have won many awards throughout the years. In recent years, he had solo exhibitions frequenty, including shows at the Strathmore Hall and Glenview Mansion.
